FAQ
Severe varicose veins can raise the risk of developing potentially life-threatening blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). Lifestyle Choices like those mentioned above may not be enough or sufficient for your particular condition. And if you are concerned about your visible varicose or spider veins, have symptoms such as leg pain, late day leg swelling or leg aches, it’s important to take advantage of our Free Leg Health Screening.

- Exercise regularly to boost circulation.
- Elevate legs several times daily at or above heart level.
- Avoid crossing legs while sitting.
- Wear low-heeled shoes and avoid tight clothing restricting blood flow.
- Avoid prolonged standing or sitting; move every 30 minutes.
- Maintain healthy weight and diet to reduce swelling and pressure.
- Compression Stockings: For most procedures like RFA, EVLT, and sclerotherapy, you’ll be asked to wear compression stockings to support healing and improve blood flow. Follow your doctor’s instructions on how long to wear them.
- Activity: Light walking is encouraged starting the day of your procedure to promote circulation. Avoid heavy lifting (more than 10 lbs) and strenuous exercise for about 1-2 weeks, depending on the treatment.
- Pain Management: Mild discomfort or bruising is common and usually resolves within a few weeks. Over-the-counter pain medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen are typically enough.
- Follow-up Visits: Attend all scheduled follow-ups so your doctor can monitor your progress and recommend any additional treatments if necessary.
